Contemporary Arts Week started in 2013 and since then over 1000 artists have performed in different venues over the years like Instituto Cervantes, LTG, Summer house, Akshara Theatre and DLF Promenade.

The non-profit NGO Friends of Art has started this initiative with varied artists in the city with an aim to showcase contemporary performing and visual artists from varied platforms. The concept is now three years old and has hosted acts across 12 different genres including dance, music, theatre, stand-up comedy, slam poetry, short films, puppetry, mime. Friends of Art’s goal is to make good contemporary art accessible to the growing intelligent audience of India, and to showcase the emerging and established artists of the field from India.

This year the opening weekend will be on October 15th and 16th at Nehru Park and the event will be till 22nd October. The performances will be spread across different venues, making it easy for visitors to pick and choose according to proximity and interest.
