On en trouve encore plus particuli\u00e8rement lors des (nombreux) festivals, o\u00f9 ils prennent de l\u2019envergure pour honorer les dieux. En plus de l\u2019aspect d\u00e9coratif, ils sont aussi cens\u00e9s prot\u00e9ger la famille et apporter de la chance.<\/p>\n<p>Les dessins peuvent \u00eatre modestes ou tr\u00e8s \u00e9labor\u00e9s. Ils varient en fonction des lieux et des Etats o\u00f9 ils sont con\u00e7us et sont souvent r\u00e9alis\u00e9s par les femmes.<\/p>\n<p>Bien que les mat\u00e9riaux utilis\u00e9s ne soient pas \u00ab\u00a0nobles\u00a0\u00bb, le r\u00e9sultat est bien souvent spectaculaire et haut en couleurs. \u00a0On utilise du riz ou de la poudre s\u00e9ch\u00e9e, du sable color\u00e9, de la craie, du charbon ou encore de la sciure de bois, que l\u2019on agr\u00e9mente parfois de p\u00e9tales de fleurs. Les motifs sont le plus souvent r\u00e9alis\u00e9s \u00e0 m\u00eame le sol, au milieu des cours, devant les paliers, dans les pi\u00e8ces communes ou dans les coins. Les rangolis sont d\u00e9sormais utilis\u00e9s dans le milieu de l\u2019h\u00f4tellerie pour d\u00e9corer de mani\u00e8re atypique et ludique.<\/p>\n<p>Les motifs varient\u00a0: la plupart du temps ils sont inspir\u00e9s d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ments naturels, mais il peut aussi s\u2019agir de figures abstraites. On distingue la technique \u00ab\u00a0s\u00e8che\u00a0\u00bb et la technique \u00ab\u00a0mouill\u00e9e\u00a0\u00bb. On commence par tracer les contours (g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement \u00e0 la craie) avant de remplir de couleurs (poudre ou riz teint\u00e9s).
