Le mot \u00ab\u00a0Sikh\u00a0\u00bb signifie \u00ab\u00a0disciple\u00a0\u00bb. Un Sikh croit en un seul Dieu et dans les enseignements des Dix Gurus recueillis dans le livre sacr\u00e9 des Sikhs, Guru Granth Sahib. Le Dieu des Sikhs est le Dieu de Gr\u00e2ce. Il a cr\u00e9\u00e9 l’homme non pour le punir de ses p\u00e9ch\u00e9s, mais pour qu’il r\u00e9alise son vrai destin. Dans le postulat de base du Sikhisme il est \u00e9crit qu’il n’y a pas de p\u00e9ch\u00e9 originel, mais la vie ayant venue de la Source Pure.<\/p>\n

Un Sikh est parfaitement reconnaissable parmi les autres. Il a les cheveux longs qu’il cache sous son turban et une barbe. Il porte \u00e9galement un bracelet d’acier sur son poignet.<\/p>\n

La religion fut fond\u00e9e par Guru Nanak (15-16e si\u00e8cle), refusant les rituels sans fondement, les superstitions et les dogmes qui passaient pour \u00eatre la religion en ce termps-l\u00e0.<\/p>\n

Guru Arjan, l’un de ces Dix Ma\u00eetres, a construit mondialement c\u00e9l\u00e8bre Gurdwara Darbar Sahib. Qui plus est la veuve a le droit de se remarier si elle le souhaite. Les femmes ne portent pas de voile. Concernant le mariage, c’est une union sacr\u00e9e et pas un contrat. Le paiement de la dot et le divorce ne sont pas autoris\u00e9s.<\/p>\n

Bien que les Sikhs ne repr\u00e9sentent que 1,8% de la population de l’Inde, ils se sont n\u00e9anmoins forg\u00e9s une solide r\u00e9putation dans pratiquement tous les domaines (l’arm\u00e9e, l’agriculture, le sport, l’industrie, l’\u00e9ducation, la m\u00e9decine, l’ing\u00e9nierie, etc) \u00e0 force de pers\u00e9v\u00e9rance et de travail dans un esprit de d\u00e9vouement missionnaire.
