Cette ann\u00e9e Ganesh Chaturthi a lieu le 17 septembre 2015. Cette f\u00eate hindoue comm\u00e9more la naissance de Shiva, le dieu \u00e0 t\u00eate d’\u00e9l\u00e9phant, fils des d\u00e9it\u00e9s Shiva et P\u00e2rvat\u00ee. Cette c\u00e9l\u00e9bration est aussi connue sous le nom de Vinayaka Chaturthi ou Vinayaka Chavithi selon les langues.<\/p>\n

La date de la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie de Ganesh Chaturthi peut varier selon le cycle lunaire. Cependant la c\u00e9l\u00e9bration de la naissance du dieu Shiva a toujours lieu pendant le mois de Badhra (ou Badhrapad) du calendrier hindou. Cette f\u00eate est c\u00e9l\u00e9br\u00e9e entre les mois d’ao\u00fbt et de septembre. Cette ann\u00e9e elle d\u00e9bute le jeudi 17 septembre et s’\u00e9tendra sur plusieurs jours. La f\u00eate d’Anant Chaturdashi cl\u00f4t les festivit\u00e9s. Cette f\u00eate est c\u00e9l\u00e9br\u00e9e dans toutes l’Inde et les communaut\u00e9s indiennes de par le monde. Les c\u00e9l\u00e9brations les plus fr\u00e9quent\u00e9es ont lieu dans l’Etat du Maharastra. En 1893 ce festival est devenu une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie d’utilit\u00e9 publique sous l’impulsion de Lokmanya Tilak. Il a souhait\u00e9 rapprocher les castes brahmanes et non brahmanes autour de ce dieu alors si populaire, symbole d’un nationalisme dans le Maharastra.<\/p>\n

La f\u00eate de Ganesh Chaturthi est rythm\u00e9e par une s\u00e9rie de rituels. Apr\u00e8s s’\u00eatre purifi\u00e9s les d\u00e9vots ach\u00e8tent une repr\u00e9sentation du dieu sous forme de statuette en argile selon la tradition. Dans chaque ville, ces statues sont expos\u00e9es sur des promontoires couverts ou dans des sanctuaires. Les statues orn\u00e9es de fleurs, de guirlandes, tr\u00f4nent donc pendant plusieurs jours. L’idole est v\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9e chaque jour. Une fois l’invocation du dieu ex\u00e9cut\u00e9e gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la statue qui sert de lien entre le dieu et le monde des vivants, les fid\u00e8les d\u00e9posent nombre d’offrandes aux pieds de la statue. Il existe de nombreuses d\u00e9clinaisons de cette f\u00eate puisqu’elle est aussi c\u00e9l\u00e9br\u00e9e dans les foyers des d\u00e9vots du dieu Ganesh. Elle finit toujours par une immersion des repr\u00e9sentations du dieu dans l’eau. Ainsi la statue d’argile se dilue dans l’eau. Ce dernier rituel symbolise l’\u00e9tape finale du cycle de la cr\u00e9ation.<\/p>\n

De tous les dieux hindouistes, Ganesh est vraisemblablement le dieu le plus aim\u00e9. Il est celui que les fid\u00e8les hindous invoquent en premier dans leurs pri\u00e8res. Ganesh, Ganesha, Vin\u00e2yaka (le meilleur des guides), Ganapati (chef des Ganas) ou Pillayar de ses autres noms, est le dieu de la sagesse, de l\u2019intelligence, de la prudence et de l\u2019\u00e9duction. Ces attributions font de lui le patron des travailleurs et des \u00e9tudiants.<\/p>\n

\"Ganesh-Chaturthi\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Conform\u00e9ment \u00e0 la mythologie hindouiste, Ganesh est le fils de Shiva et P\u00e2rvat\u00ee. Son apparence animale provient de multiples mythes. Le plus connu et le plus accept\u00e9 d\u2019entre eux est le suivant. Shiva, \u00e9poux de P\u00e2rvat\u00ee, quitta sa femme pour partir \u00e0 la guerre. Angoiss\u00e9e par la solitude, P\u00e2rvat\u00ee se fa\u00e7onna un fils \u00e0 partir de poussi\u00e8res, de l\u2019\u00e9cume de son bain et des onguents recueillis sur sa peau. Plusieurs ann\u00e9es apr\u00e8s son d\u00e9part au combat, Shiva rentrant chez lui tombe nez \u00e0 nez sur Ganesh qui gardait la maison pendant que sa m\u00e8re prenait un bain. Furieux de se voir interdire l\u2019entr\u00e9e dans sa propre demeure, Shiva tranche la t\u00eate du jeune \u00e9ph\u00e8be, qui roule tellement loin qu\u2019elle finit introuvable. P\u00e2rvat\u00ee d\u00e9sesp\u00e9r\u00e9e lui raconte toute l\u2019histoire et exige qu\u2019il y ait r\u00e9parations. Shiva promet \u00e0 sa femme de remplacer la t\u00eate de son fils par celle du premier enfant qu\u2019il voit, qui fut un \u00e9l\u00e9phanteau.<\/p>\n

Cet \u00e9pisode donne tout son sens \u00e0 l\u2019attribution de dieu de l\u2019intelligence. Il faut que l\u2019intellect, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire le shaki<\/em> se retire pour acc\u00e9der \u00e0 la divinit\u00e9, d\u2019o\u00f9 la d\u00e9capitation de l\u2019enfant.<\/p>\n

Les idoles ou m\u00fbrtis<\/em> de Ganesh repr\u00e9sentent traditionnellement un gros corps d\u2019enfant de couleur rouge poss\u00e9dant tr\u00e8s souvent quatre bras, une t\u00eate d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9phant et une unique d\u00e9fense. Un mythe raconte que l\u2019autre d\u00e9fense se serait cass\u00e9e une nuit o\u00f9 Ganesh serait tomb\u00e9 de son v\u00e2hana<\/em> ou v\u00e9hicule (un rat). En assistant \u00e0 la sc\u00e8ne, la Lune lui aurait ri au nez. Contrari\u00e9, le dieu lui aurait envoy\u00e9 la d\u00e9fense bris\u00e9e, causant le plus gros crat\u00e8re du satellite terrestre. Depuis il est fortement d\u00e9conseill\u00e9 de regarder la Lune pendant Ganesh Chaturthi.<\/p>\n

Son aura rayonne \u00e0 travers l\u2019Inde et l\u2019Asie. Le bouddhisme japonais voit en lui une r\u00e9incarnation de Sh\u014d Kannon Bosatsu, <\/em>le Grand \u00catre de la compassion. Aussi, les peintures utilis\u00e9es pour les d\u00e9corer contenant des m\u00e9taux lourds et polluants (mercure) contribuent largement \u00e0 la hausse de l\u2019acidit\u00e9 des points d\u2019eau. Il est donc assez fr\u00e9quent de voir les jours pr\u00e9c\u00e9dant l\u2019ultime c\u00e9l\u00e9bration de Ganesh Chaturthi des bancs de poissons morts \u00e0 la surface des fleuves.<\/p>\n
