Keep calm in Udaipur

Program this weekend: Udaipur. This city built around Pichola Lake is rightly called the Venice of India.

View of Pichola Lake

The city, still inhabited by the Maharana three months during the year, is ideal to forget the bustle of Delhi. The proximity to the lake offers great freshness while the various rooftops allow you to enjoy the view of palaces and mansions around the lake.

Between the palaces and museums you will not be bored. Do not miss a visit to the imposing City Palace perched above the lake. This palace, residence of the Maharana, is the largest rajastanhi palace. It offers stunning views of the city and its clustering rooms convey the life of maharanas in this palace.

Not to get bored of museums then opt for a boat ride on Pichola Lake. You will be able to access the Lake Palace, a luxury hotel lost in the lake, which appears in the ‘Octopussy’ James Bond. Lot of etablishments offer reruns of the film.

Our favorite places:

Dream Heaven Hotel: stunning view of the lake, clean rooms (some even have a terrace), excellent service and good food

Millet of Mewar, Restaurant: friendly, focuses on providing health food. This restaurant revisits Indian recipes, offering delicious dishes like veg wrap accompanied by the famous Indian mint sauce

Ambrai, Restaurant: Located on the edge of the lake, with a view of the Lake Palace restaurant albeit proposing higher average of prices, offers typical Indian dishes divinely cooked.
