Romantic break in Udaipur

August has deployed its sprawling heat on Rajasthan. Tourists, frightened, sweating profusely, are circulating in the deep silence of various temples and spacious palaces.

My friend and I are no exception : the only time we have a semblance of freshness is when we are locked in our hotel room, under the aircon.

In such sifling torpor, Udaipur acts as a friendly refuge. A loss of sight, its many lakes spread like mirrors, in which a few stealthy boats glidde.

One of them takes us on Pichola Lake. After a stop on Jagmandir, where we enjoy a delicious iced coffee, head for the City Palace. This one, complete with numerous towers and beautiful views of the lake, can claim to be the largest palace in Rajasthan.

We conclude with the City Palace Museum, as interesting because of anecdotes it contains as by the architecture and the objects within it.

Udaipur, also called “The City of Lakes” is a relaxed city, a recommended stop for a break out of time while traveling through Rajasthan.
