There are a lot of human organizations in India and especially in Delhi. But today we want to focus on just one of them. This is a story of the heart of Fair Trade. The heart of another true Mother Teresa.
Maximizing Employment to Serve the Handicapped or simply MESH is an Indian NGO practicing Fair Trade with disabled and leprosy affected people. [inlinetweet prefix=”” tweeter=”” suffix=””]MESH gives true opportunities to disabled people who want and are still able to work, to achieve their social integration and rehabilitation by trading[/inlinetweet].
Member of the World Fair Trade Organization, MESH stands for Fair Trade practices, protecting children rights (no child or forced work), gender equity, good working conditions and for the respect for the environment. Another side of their action is to create opportunities for economically disadvantaged producers.
The figures speak for themselves : during 30 years 1000 MESH artisans from 12 states of whole India are exporting their hand made crafts to roughly 14 countries across the world.
Among their lovely handicrafts you can find lifestyle and fashion accessories, toys, paper products, home and Christmas decorations, etc :
At the origin the artisans members are not craftsmen, they have learnt a craft in order to earn their living and to be able to support their families. In 2012-2013 MESH got an award as the Certificate of merit for high quality products and services.
While in India, you can buy their products in New Delhi, at 5, Local Shopping Centre, Uday Park near South Extension (+91 11 26965039 / 26568048 ; contact@mesh.org.in)
